Extracapsular Repair

More common for small breed dogs, this is a method of repairing the cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs (see TPLO or TTA). In this procedure an external suture is placed outside the knee capsule. This is to, essentially, replace the ruptured ligament and hold the area in place until the scar tissue has enough time to repair the damage.
